CBSE BOARD

CBSE BOARD

Central Board of Secondary Education

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is a national level board of education in India for public and private schools, controlled and managed by Union Government of India. CBSE has asked all schools affiliated to follow only NCERT curriculum.

CBSE conducts the final examinations for Class 10 and Class 12 every year in the month of March. The results are announced by the end of May. The board earlier conducted the AIEEE Examination for admission to undergraduate courses in engineering and architecture in colleges across India. However, the AIEEE exam was merged with the IIT-Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) in 2013. The common examination is now called JEE (Main) and is henceforth conducted by National Testing Agency.

CBSE also conducts AIPMT (All India Pre Medical Test) for admission to major medical colleges in India. In 2014, the conduct of the National Eligibility Test for grant of a junior research fellowship and eligibility for assistant professor in institutions of higher learning was outsourced to CBSE. Apart from these tests, CBSE also conducts the Central Teacher Eligibility Test and the Class X optional proficiency test. With the addition of NET in 2014, the CBSE has become the largest exam conducting body in the world.

Why CBSE Board?
  • The Central Board of Secondary Education is popularly known as CBSE. As one of the most prestigious educational boards in India, it offers a well-researched syllabus incorporating the international trends.
  • International Recognition: A certificate or degree issued by the CBSE is valid and respected throughout the country and even abroad, making it universally acceptable. CBSE Schools are also under operation in many countries, including Singapore, Russia, Africa and the Middle East.
  • Easy approach of study: CBSE follows a scientific approach wherein students are supposed to appear for only 1 question paper per subject. This relieves children of unnecessary pressure of exams and instead lets them take interest in the subject.
  • Syllabus design: The CBSE syllabus is designed to prepare students for various entrance exams such as the IIT-JEE and AIIMS. Also, CBSE follows the guidelines of National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) across all subjects. This gives uniformity in education which is CBSE’s advantage over other boards.
  • Helpful in relocation: Since a large number of schools in India are affiliated to CBSE, it becomes very easy for parents to change cities and easily get their children enrolled in a CBSE board school in case of work transfers.
